Virtual Team Building

As teams become more and more remotely connected, building and developing high performance teams becomes increasingly difficult and is often not feasible. To address this challenge, Serious Worlds offers a Virtual Team Building program which provides virtual team building activities in a shared, online environment.

Virtual Team Building Benefits:

  • Build team performance
  • Develop team relationships
  • Increase team collaboration
  • Enable personal networking
  • Eliminate travel and real world venue costs
  • Reduce carbon footprint

Serious Worlds' Virtual Team Building enables virtual teams from around the world to engage together in online team building though fun, group problem solving challenges.

Program Overview

Through our facilitated Virtual Team Building program, teams will form, storm, norm and perform in specially designed virtual world exercises.

Avatar Orientation

Serious Worlds' Virtual Team Building begins with Avatar Orientation, where team members learn the basics of operating in the virtual environment and personalize the look of their individual avatars. The remainder of the day is open to the participants so they have an opportunity to get accustomed to the virtual environment for the next day's team building activities.

Team Building

Through a series of facilitated group exercises and games based upon the Tuckman teaming model, participants share with one another more about their own personality and work styles, explore why team collaboration is the most effective approach, and solve group challenges which can only be successful with the involvement of all team members.

Self-Directed Team Challenge

The team is presented with a role-play mission in which they must determine the steps and sequence of tasks to complete in order to successfully meet various required deliverables, take each other's strengths and skills into account when deciding upon roles and responsibilities, and support each other through any obstacles they might encounter. Oh yes, and also save the planet!

Virtual After Party

Following completion of the formal program, team members have an opportunity to network and build personal connections at the after party, where they can share a few virtual drinks, show off their virtual dance skills, go hang gliding, even ride ostriches and unicorns.

Program Implementation

Our Virtual Team Building program is 1.5 days long.

Team Sizes

The current program is designed for teams of up to 40 people. Smaller sub-teams are formed for various exercises. Implementations of our program for teams larger than 40 people is possible.

Technical Requirements

Participants are required to use an audio headset, such as a person would use for Skype, so they can talk to other team members and are also required to download and install a program onto their computer in order to access the virtual world environment.
